As India struggles in the Ranchi Test, England’s great player asks a tough question: “Is Cheteshwar Pujara’s International Career Over?

The fourth Test between India and England has been watched by legendary bowler Stuart Broad with great interest. The former England right-arm pacer is also expressing his thoughts on the two squads and the game on social media. With the exception of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel, the Indian top and middle order struggled against the England spinners on Saturday. Tom Hartley claimed two wickets, while Shoaib Bashir claimed four. Regarding India’s batting, Broad questioned whether or not out-of-favour Test batsman Cheteshwar Pujara would no longer play for his country. In the absence of ace batsman Virat Kohli, he said that India should have kept the veteran in the lineup, giving them “some consistency”.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-442714″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/theindiaprint.com-as-india-struggles-in-the-ranchi-test-englands-great-player-asks-a-tough-question-.jpeg” alt=”theindiaprint.com as india struggles in the ranchi test englands great player asks a tough question” width=”1074″ height=”807″ title=”As India struggles in the Ranchi Test, England's great player asks a tough question: "Is Cheteshwar Pujara's International Career Over? 9″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/theindiaprint.com-as-india-struggles-in-the-ranchi-test-englands-great-player-asks-a-tough-question-.jpeg 644w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/theindiaprint.com-as-india-struggles-in-the-ranchi-test-englands-great-player-asks-a-tough-question–150×113.jpeg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1074px) 100vw, 1074px” />

Would there have been pressure to reinstate Pujara in this India batting lineup given the absence of the seasoned veteran and exceptional talent that is Kohli? Or has his career abroad come to an end? Feels like he might have added an anchor and some consistency,” Broad said on X, the defunct Twitter platform.

Would there have been pressure to reinstate Pujara in this India batting lineup given the absence of the seasoned veteran and exceptional talent that is Kohli? Or has his career abroad come to an end? It seems like he might have provided some stability and a solid foundation.

It’s important to note that Virat Kohli will miss the full five-match Test series in order to spend time with his family. On February 15 of this year, Kohli and his spouse Anushka Sharma welcomed a newborn boy into their family.

Speaking of the match, on the second day of the fourth Test, England’s spinners Bashir and Hartley controlled the proceedings, but Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 73 and an uninterrupted 42-run stand between Dhruv Jurel (30) and Kuldeep Yadav (17) enabled India to mount a partial recovery.

At the end of the second day of play, India was 219 for 7, having scored 73 runs in 73 overs.

Unfazed at the wicket, Jurel and Kuldeep skillfully navigated England’s onslaught.

Joe Root was undefeated at 122 when England was knocked out for 353 earlier in the day. The advantage for the visitors is still 134 runs.
