In order to carry out all metro projects outside of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, the Maharashtra and central governments jointly funded MMRCL, a special-purpose corporation, in 2015.

The business released a statement saying, “AmpIn Energy Transition (formerly Amp Energy India) announces the signing of a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for a 6 MWp solar project with the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRCL), Nagpur Metro Rail Project.” After two successfully completed solar projects for L&T Metro and Kochi Metro, this is AmpIn’s third solar project for a metro train and its first metro endeavor in Maharashtra. This solar project has a 6 MWp total capacity, which will be built into two packages of 2.5 MWp and 3.5 MWp, respectively.

Nineteen locations—including the roofs of two depot buildings and thirteen metro stations—will together house the whole capacity. For Nagpur Metro, the solar project is anticipated to replace 36% of grid electricity with solar power, translating into an astounding 41% savings per unit.

Pinaki Bhattacharyya, MD and CEO of AmpIn Energy Transition said, “Our experience with successfully implementing two metro projects in different states positions AmpIn well to contribute significantly to Maharashtra’s renewable energy goals for mass public transportation.”
